Cobra, a leader in the provision of security, safety and telematics solutions for the automotive and insurance industries, is sending two teams on this year's Banger Run to raise funds for Help For Heroes, the charity helping injured Armed Forces personnel. Funds raised, to date, stand at £5,271.
The two Cobra teams; The Tigers and The Spanners and their bangers, which cost less than £250 each, will depart from Silverstone on Saturday 3rd September and travel through Europe, stopping off at seven Formula 1 circuits along the route, before arriving at the Catalunya Circuit in Barcelona on Tuesday 6th September. All teams taking part in the Help For Heroes Banger Run must complete the challenge in four days.
The Cobra Spanners team is made up of Miles Garner, Nigel Grove and Jason Parsons. The team's banger is an S-registration Mitsubishi Carisma, with over 109,000 miles on the clock.
The Cobra Tigers are Ian Ross, Alex Elvidge and Anthony Chorlton and their banger is a 117,000 mile,16 year-old Audi Coupé.
Andrew Smith, Managing Director at Cobra UK commented, "Both teams will have their bangers kitted out with one of our vehicle tracking products; CobraTrak Plus with web monitoring. This will enable Cobra colleagues and supporters to track the teams' progress and location using the latest GPS/GSM technology and the Vehicle Location on Demand facility."
"We will also be fitting both cars with our new Global Live technology, a live CCTV monitoring system, designed to protect commercial vehicles and their loads, with on board cameras allowing our Secure Operating Centre personnel to monitor vehicles audibly and visually, 24/7. The bangers will be fitted with forward facing CCTV cameras and we will be sharing footage of the teams covering the seven Formula 1 circuits, via our online platforms, once the challenge is complete!"
"The teams and their bangers will have their work cut out reaching Barcelona on 6 September and we all wish them the best of luck! I would like to thank all our generous sponsors including Mitsubishi Motors, Integrated Visual Protection, Joe Macari Service, Global Vehicle Systems, Prestige Auto Repairs and Digital Revolution for vehicle graphics. We have been overwhelmed by their generosity and support and I'm confident we will reach our £10,000 target."
