Cobra UK is launching a unique windscreen mounted telematics box
to the UK at Post Magazine's Insurance Telematics Expo 2012 in
London on 11 July.
A pioneer of vehicle electronic solutions and telematics
technology, Cobra is sponsoring the event, which will debate the
future for the fast developing insurance telematics market and
explore the opportunities and challenges associated with telematics
based insurance.
The event offers the perfect platform for the launch of this
innovative new windscreen mounted telematics box, which offers a
range of additional benefits to fleet operators, including enhanced
data provision, an optional eCall button and reduced installation
time.
Cobra's 'Black Box' technology is currently fitted to thousands
of vehicles across the UK and mainland Europe and its new
windscreen mounted device is the first of its kind in the UK. The
device can be fitted in minutes and provides a constantly visible
reminder to those behind the wheel, encouraging responsible driving
behaviour and delivering enhanced vehicle security.
Cobra's new windscreen mounted 'Black Box' is manufactured to OE
standards and detects everything from movement, speed, cornering
and braking, to rollover and impact events, providing fleet
managers with trip statistics, driving behaviour and policy
information for their drivers, as well as eFNOL automatic crash
alert after an incident, and incident reconstruction. An internal
GPS and GSM antenna enables location, mapping and reporting, plus
theft tracking when required.
Cobra has been at the forefront of innovation in the telematics
industry since the first products were launched, providing
technology and integrating systems for three driver based insurance
packages:
- Pay How You Drive - the better your driving the lower your
premiums
- Pay As You Drive - based on the time, distance and location of
journeys covered by the driver
- Pay Per Use - premiums are based on a driver's mileage
Pay How You Drive insurance will automatically deliver lower
premiums for those drivers who drive sensibly and Pay As You Drive
means drivers only pay for the journeys they undertake.
Pay As You Drive insurance also incentivises drivers to use
their car away from the morning, late afternoon and peak holiday
driving periods, helping reduce both premiums and congestion at
peak times.
Cobra's telematics technology already powers The Co-Operative's
highly successful Young Driver Insurance.
Andrew Smith, Managing Director at Cobra UK, said: "The Usage
Based Insurance market is growing rapidly as innovative technology
delivers proven, scalable and highly efficient ways for insurers to
reduce risk, based on actual driver behaviour. Insurance premiums
are rocketing out of control and our windscreen mounted device is a
new development that we know will help to further reduce premiums,
as well as contributing to improved road safety, by encouraging
safer driving. We are delighted to sponsor this event that will
bring together key decision makers in the vehicle insurance arena
at such a pivotal moment for insurance telematics growth."
